About us
A charity founded by doctors and community members who believe good heart health should be within everyone's reach.
Who we are
The Australian Cardiac Foundation
The Australian Cardiac Foundation is a registered charity and public company limited by guarantee, established to promote cardiac health across Australia. We hold Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement, which means donations over $2 are tax-deductible. We are registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
We were founded in Victoria with a national ambition: to raise awareness of heart disease, support prevention, and stand beside patients and families affected by heart conditions.
Our board
Our founding directors bring together clinical expertise and community leadership:
Dr M. Asrar Ul Haq
Cardiologist. Founding director bringing frontline cardiology experience to the Foundation's clinical direction.
Janette Haq
Founding director, supporting governance and community engagement.
Shubhra Purohit
Dentist and founding director, contributing a broad health perspective to the board.
Vivek Mutha
Founding director, public officer and company secretary, leading the Foundation's establishment.
Coming soon: full director biographies and an advisory board of clinical and community experts, to be added as members are confirmed.
Governance
We are committed to transparent, accountable governance in line with ACNC Governance Standards. We keep proper records, disclose conflicts of interest, and lodge our Annual Information Statement as required. Any related-party interests are recorded in our conflicts register and managed by non-conflicted directors.
Our supporters
The Australian Cardiac Foundation is proudly supported in its establishment by Heart of Melbourne. Their founding gift helps us launch our first heart-health programs. We acknowledge Heart of Melbourne as a founding supporter on the same terms as any other donor; this recognition reflects our gratitude and does not constitute endorsement of any commercial service.
